More of Don's
photo series.

This was my first teaching class. I remember quite a few of the kids very well. The first girl in the back row had five sisters and no brothers. The tall boy in the back row was a good basketball player. On his right is a boy I am sorry to say I did not get along well with. If I had been a more experienced teacher I would have tried harder. The girl on the right end of the back row was a nice kid; she was the teacher's pet that year. I hope she has had a good life. In the front row is a boy in a light-colored shirt. He loved to smoke cigarettes (against his parents' will, of course). They were all neat kids, who I suspect grew up to be neat adults.

The building is gone. When I was there it was old, but well taken care of, and the rooms were large. They have a nice new building there now.
