The Cardston Alberta Temple

The Alberta Temple

The Cardston Alberta Temple in Canada was the first temple built outside of the United States.*

The Alberta Temple

The setting is magnificent, the temple surrounded by the picturesque prairie town of Cardston and in the distance the Rocky Mountains.

The Alberta Temple

The architecture is a combination of two dissimilar strands: Aztec-Inca, reflecting the Mormon idea that Christ came to the Western hemisphere at some time in the past, and Frank Lloyd Wright's Prairie Architecture, reflecting the fact that the temple is located on the Alberta prairie. The Cardston Alberta Temple was dedicated in 1923.
