BEAR CREEK GREENWAY TRAIL: Buy a Yard, Bike, Run, Walk & Enjoy

IN 1996 WE CELEBRATED In 1995 we celebrated the extension of the greenway trail from Medford to Central Point with the first Breakthrough Run. In 1996 the Bear Creek Greenway Foundation's capital campaign exceeded the goal to raise $120,000 in matching funds. The major goals of the Bear Creek Greenway Foundation for 1997 will be to continue support through the construction of the Ashland to Talent section of the Greenway trail begin in 1997-98 including bridges, and prepare for future trail sections from Medford to Talent (expected with the reauthorization of ISTEA, the federal transportation act).

The dream of connecting each city on the Bear Creek Greenway comes closer to reality. We still welcome cash contributions in 1997 (and in-kind contributions for bridge construction materials). The theme of the fund drive is "Connecting Communities" for which the Greenway Foundation is conducting a "yard sale." For each $40 contributed you can sponsor one yard of new trail. When the Talent to Ashland segment is completed donors through 1997 will be recognized at the Ashland trailhead. Any surplus trail funds will be applied to the next phase of the campaign, completing the trail between Medford, Phoenix and Talent.

The response so far from all over the Bear Creek Valley and beyond has been gratifying; we know this will continue as each new segment of the trail really does connect communities.

Contributions for the trail should be sent to the Bear Creek Greenway Foundation, P. O. Box 4561, Medford, Oregon 97501. Each dollar donated to the Bear Creek Greenway Foundation (a 501(c)3 organization) is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. If you have questions about the fund drive, E-mail the Greenway Foundation, or call Lee Mills at 772-7123, Wes Reynolds at 482-4927, or Al Densmore at 770-5115. The dream of connecting each city on the Bear Creek Greenway comes closer to reality. Your contribution can help secure the Ashland connection. Please keep in mind that each tax deductible dollar donated to the Bear Creek Greenway Foundation capital campaign is matched with more than $19.00 from other sources to complete this trail.
