The Manti Utah Temple

Manti Temple

Manti Temple

City of Manti in winter

"Manti" is pronounced "man-tie." Manti is almost at the exact center of the State of Utah.

The Manti Temple was begun in April 1877. It was the third of the Utah temples, begun before the other two (St. George and Logan) were completed. Dedication was in 1888.

Manti is not in a highly populated region, yet the people roundabout sacrificed their time and labor to construct their temple; they also contributed their money—a million dollars, which was a huge amount for so few.

Construction is of oolite stone from the south side of the hill on which the structure stands. The structure has recently been completely renovated.

Manti is the site of the annual "Mormon Pageant," which reenacts the history of the church.
